About Musicisart

 musicisart

an evolving music and visual art media network

carefully curated by Danielle Maree

 A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR:

Over the last eleven years as a music curator, my own personal taste has expanded to a new blend of genres, and introduced me to a broader spectrum of underground artists and bands. My own inspiration is stirring as I bring these 1300 past posts of memories along. My true vision of musicisart was to become one of those old 1990s music magazines filled with heartfelt reviews and honesty that inspired me as a little girl. I miss the beauty of what those moments of journalism use to to feel like. My goal now is to create the dream of becoming an independent digital publication of quality music and visual art reviews, interviews, and playlists. Although the times, and attention spans of our lives may be different today. In musicisart, my hope is that the artwork, music, and words shared daily makes you feel some of the magic I felt in discovering, reading, and listening intensely growing up.

MUSICISART HISTORY

Originally started in March 2006, musicisart began on the Blogger platform as a little indie music blog: musicisart.blogspot.com. Within three months of posting about music, the blog grew a following from 10 visitors weekly to 2000 visitors daily. In 2007, technology brought musicisart over to the WordPress blogging platform and received it’s first domain: www.musicisart.ws. As the years went on, small posts were shared here and there of special music recommendations of the year. In 2017, musicisart celebrated its 11th Anniversary by officially striving towards what the blog wanted to become, an independent digital media music and visual art magazine: www.musicisartmag.com.

“One glimpse is all it takes to tell you that Music Is Art is something special. You can start by judging this blog by its cover—it’s one of the best-designed, most aesthetically aware music blogs around—but there’s much more to it than just a pretty template. For one, Danielle, the “dreamer/designer” behind MIA, focuses not only on excellent music, but on art, photography and writing and how they all intersect and inform the music. By sharing the sounds and sights that inspire her, she’s inspiring a growing number of readers on a daily basis. By documenting artists’ creative processes, she’s, in the process, creating a pretty substantial, always-evolving work of art herself.”
