Kiasmos has been one of my favorite discoveries of the last year, and it all started with the song, Looped. Something about how it was so beautifully crafted in shades of minimal techno, downtempo beats, ambient beats, and orchestral melodies. I remember listening late last summer out on my patio staring out at the view.. and I was so transcended into the sound, I began to cry.
Kiasmos – Looped
Kiasmos is Classical composer Ólafur Arnalds and keyboardist and vocalist Janus Rasmussen. For years, the two have been good friends exchanging mix tapes and sharing their favorite experimental music sounds for years. Hailing from Iceland and based in Reykjavik, Kiasmos’s self-titled debut is out now on the London-based label, Erased Tapes. Their overall sound provides a beautiful presentation of the result of taking all types of electronic elements, expressing them digitally, and creating an emotionally ethreal feeling in the story their compelling music provides.
