Have you ever heard the track “Crying Flute” by Russian producer Eight One Three 813? After being inspired by a retweet from Electronic Music School MMMMaven to read HYPEBEAT’s article “Are Flute Samples the Latest Sound Trend in Rap Music?” including a Flute Samples Playlist, it was noticed there was an ultimate flute song missing from the collection. Eight One Three’s Crying Flute showcases a unique but proper way to sample a flute inside an electronic glitch of perfection.
LISTEN :: EIGHT ONE THREE (813) – CRYING FLUTE
For over 15 years, Eight One Three worked as a firefighter in Moscow, Russia and made chiptune beat sounds on the side. Signed to the Mad Decent record label, 813 created early albums of his own style of glitchy trap samples that he simply described back then as electronic hip hop. Never revealing his true name and remaining a digital mystery, Eight One Three’s album covers’ artwork themes gave a child-like innocent impression with bright colors of yellow, and video game animations. A true artist within his own music, 813 became known for his vivid creativity with reworking different artists’ music.

Today 813 is now an ex-firefighter who designs eclectic sound sample packs and makes them for sale to use by producers in the music program Ableton. In February 2017, Eight One Three released a beautiful single titled “Married Me” featuring the sultry sounds of a saxophone, and his signature bass elements that transform the track into instrumental bliss.
By special request, 813 may be emailed directly (firstname.lastname@example.org) to order his new Ableton Project 9.5 Sample Pack including more than 350 loops and elements, plus the new track “Married Me” and the actual music project that was created by using the samples in the pack.
