Maribou State x Pedestrian

Maribou State is London producers’ Chris Davids and Liam Ivory, and together they create melodic music full of downtempo beats, trip hop grooves, and sexy bass.  Originally the duo met back in school in their hometown of Hertfordshire, but spent more time in their bedroom studio playing around with different ideas of electronic sounds. Maribou State have been shared a few times here at musicisart, you may even know their single Moon Circles from Bonobo‘s recent Essential Mix but it feels important to have their latest EP Truths be heard as it’s authentic and simply hypnotic in every sense of the word. Enjoy!

Maribou State‘s first collaboration was with Pedestrian back in 2011 with a reworking of Lauryn Hill’s ‘Doo Wop’ which was respectively loved by the likes of Diplo, B. Traits and Eddy Temple Morris.

Be sure to hear this chill track Mask from the 2013 ‘Friends Will Carry You Home Too’ compilation, which may be found on the Catz N’ Dogz ‘Pets Recordings’ imprint.

About The Author

“One glimpse is all it takes to tell you that Music Is Art is something special. You can start by judging this blog by its cover—it’s one of the best-designed, most aesthetically aware music blogs around—but there’s much more to it than just a pretty template. For one, Danielle Maree, the “dreamer/designer” behind MIA, focuses not only on excellent music, but on art, photography and writing and how they all intersect and inform the music. By sharing the sounds and sights that inspire her, she’s inspiring a growing number of readers on a daily basis. By documenting artists’ creative processes, she’s, in the process, creating a pretty substantial, always-evolving work of art herself.” - Nerd Litter
