Pete Yorn – On Your Side [Music for the Morning After, 2001]

Recently, Pete Yorn embarked on an American tour that will end in Charlotte, NC on November 8th.  For his Ridgefield, CT performance, Music Is Art was able to attend.  The intimate and greatly restored Ridgefield Playhouse has been housing entertainment acts quietly since the year of 2000.  Opener and touring band Alberta Cross created a perfect beginning to the evening, rocking out and showcasing how surprising a good band can really be.

A short time later, Pete Yorn was welcomed inside the small theatre playing melodic, favorite memories from his 2001 debut Music for the Morning After such as Life On A Chain, Closet, Girl Like You, Strange Condition, For Nancy (‘Cos It Already Is) and On Your Side.  Holding strong throughout the entire set including the humorous tambourine player who danced out of control every once in awhile,  the band maintained with a steady approach to a few choice songs from Pete Yorn’s latest album, Back and Forth.  Standouts from the evening included a cover of New Order’s Bizarre Love Triangle, the tease of Bruce Springsteen’s Hungry Heart and the always epic ending to On Your Side.
