French illustrator/artist/video director/musician Woodkid is a genius.
Best known for his videos for Lana Del Ray, Katy Perry, Drake and Rhianna, Woodkid released his evocative and cinematic debut album, The Golden Age, last March 2013 surprising his fans, colleagues, and critics alike.
Woodkid’s latest creation is a reworking of Pharrell‘s Happy that turns the happiest song on the billboard charts into one of the saddest. Strangely beautiful in a sea of string arrangements, somehow the melancholy remix feels even more fitting than the original. Listen to the premiere over at Stereogum.
